Concept of Virtual CD |
What
is VIRTUAL CD?
It uses CDs and DVDs
without a drive.
Virtual CD copies your CDs and DVDs to the hard disk of your PC
or Server using highly efficient data compression techniques. The
virtual CDs are then run in virtual CD drives which are automatically
set up in Windows and have all the functions and features of physical
CD drives. Thus you can create an unlimited number of CD/DVD images
and access up to 23 CDs/DVDs at a time!
Most CD-ROM servers or central physical CD/DVD drives make the medium
accessible as a "share." However, this CD service model
has a huge disadvantage: because of the share, the central CD or
DVD functions as a hard disk. Playing real audio or multimedia tracks
is no longer possible. With Virtual CD, however, network computers
receive the medium as CD or DVD! Whatever is running locally is
also running within the network-with some exceptions.
